Online Predators. :O
Online predator (1) will start to gain a victim's confidence, frequently posing as like-minded kids who share their interests in music, fashion and the latest celebrity gossip. Great conversationalists, will soon start to get our personal information like house or handphone numbers, address, full name, what time our parents come home etc. Once they gain our trust, they will call us, give gifts and have a face to face meetings. This inevitably results in a number of rapes and abductions.
Online predator (2) does not waste time and get straight to the point and will make their intentions known pretty early in the conversation. Either way1 or 2, the eventual path of both types will lead to some form of a bad thing.
CASE STUDY ON ONLINE PREDATORS.
(overseas)
Jessica met a predator online when she was 13. She received an instant message from someone who said he knew her from elementary school. They chatted together over Messenger for several months. One day the FBI showed up at the family home and told Jessica she had been communicating with a pedophile, and that she would likely have been his next rape victim. Jessica and her mom had considered themselves to be very internet safety-conscious. They had taken precautions such as installing filtering software and not visiting chatrooms, but this did not stop them being fooled. Danger-
Cyber Bullying.
Cyberbullying involves the use of information and communication technologies such as email, cell phone and pager text messages, instant messaging, defamatory personal Web sites, and defamatory online personal polling Web sites, to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behaviour by an individual or group, that is intended to harm others. Cyberbullying includes threats, gossip, and insults that are spread via e-mail and messengers, distributed through community-oriented online games.
Eg. A girl gets an email everyday from an anonymous person saying that she is the fattest, stupidest, ugliest girl ever lived.
FACT: MSN messenger has emerged as one of the most popular of the new range of bullying tools. It is important to realize that MSN messenger has become a very large part of the social lives of today’s kids and teens. Something happened online often acted out in person during school. Likewise, a ‘real-world’ conflict can be extended online through endless strings of abusive instant messages. It is not uncommon for groups to gang up on an individual kid, bombarding them with "flame" / hate IMs or infecting their computer with viruses.
We should report it to our parents or teachers if we are cyber-bullied. They will know what to do. Leave any conversation that starts to gossip or insult about another person. It is a crime to cyber-bully as it hurts feelings and emotions.

Tips to be safe on msn mesengers.1) Create a nickname
This is the name you use to identify yourself to members. Like your e-mail address, it should be inoffensive, non-identifiable and non-gender specific. Posting under the name, “SexySueSmith17” is just asking for trouble. Try to use a Nickname that is not revealing your gender, age etc like “BlueBear.”
To be safe, You can check to see if your details appear online by running your name through a search engine. The most popular way to do this is to ‘Google’ yourself. Go to http://www.google.com/ and type in your name, in inverted commas, for example: “Sue Smith” and see what is returned. Of course, the results could be any number of people with the same name as you but it is always worth checking.
2) Never give out your personal details.
They will give all sorts of excuses just to get it. DO NOT BE FOOLED. They can send out all sorts of things that make us uncomftable or scared.
3) Do not send your picture to anyoine.
They can edit it and make it into an embarassing photo or a pornography. This may lead to cyber bullying. No matter how much they beg or persuade you, never let them see what you look like.
4) Dont meet up with any strangers you meet online.
They can be a bad person (rapist, kidnappers, etc) If you ever do want to meet someone up, make sure it is a public place and make sure an adult go with you.
5) Email security:
Be careful where you post/submit your email id on public forums. Share it only with known people. Do not download attachments or files received through emails sent by unknown persons.
6) Password protection:
Never give your password to anyone.
When selecting a password, make sure it is a combination of alphabets, numerals and special characters
7) At a cyber café:
Never surf from a cyber café if you are keying in any sensitive data. The computer may have a program running in the background that is storing all your information.
Be careful of inquisitive surfers around.
Always logout of all your messengers and any mailbox you have open, before you leave.
8) Know who everyone is on your buddy list.
Buddy lists have a way of getting passed around and shared. The wrong people could easily creep in.
9) Don't forward any emails or IMs that were meant for your eyes only.
Respect other people's privacy.
better to be safe than sorry.
